Capsule Geology

The area of the Neuman showing is underlain by sedimentary and volcanic rocks of the Upper Triassic Stuhini Group.

In 1988, Continental Gold Corp reported a 15 to 50 centimetre wide shear-hosted vein exposed for over 50 metres, with up to 40 per cent chalcopyrite and 10 per cent pyrite. Assays of 17.49 per cent copper, 7.06 grams per tonne gold, and 533.9 grams per tonne silver indicate that this chip sample may have been quite selective (Assessment Report 18555). Another chip sample across 50 centimetres of this vein yielded 0.76 gram per tonne gold and assays of 2.70 per cent copper, and 121.4 grams per tonne silver (Assessment Report 18555, 21061). This occurrence was not re-located in 1990, although malachite stained float (28237) with chalcopyrite, pyrite, magnetite, and pyrrhotite found in this area assayed 1.29 per cent copper, with 150 parts per billion gold and otherwise insignificant silver and base metal values (Assessment Report 21061).

Refer to Trophy (Ptarmigan) (104G 053) for related details and a common work history.
